Who Am I????
|
Below is the audio from my testimony I shared at Pine Level United Methodist on April 24, 2013. The video to the right shows some of the pictures of my work in Haiti over the past 14 years with pictures of Deverson, who I talk about in my testimony and of course has pictures of our kids Wanna and Fritzon, who we hope to fly home very soon.
We have more information on our adoption on the tab above. If you are interested in going to Haiti you can message me or find out more at www.themissionhaiti.org. |
I am someone who wears many hats: a wife, mother, teacher, sign language interpreter, photographer, and mission team leader. In all I do I hope to make a difference in the world and in the lives of those I come in contact with. I haven't figured out that ONE thing in life I want to do so in the mean time I will just do a little of everything.
Wife/Mother - I have a great family! Check out my family page for pictures and info.
Teacher - I am so excited to be teaching the FIRST ONLINE American Sign Language course for Florida with Pasco eSchools. Before that I taught 6th grade Social Studies and was a Technology Integration Specialist at Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, FL and taught American Sign Language at DeSoto High School for 5 years. I am Florida certified to teach K-6, Middle Grades 5-9, Business 6-12 and American Sign Language. While most of my teaching experience has been teaching ASL at the high school level, I have also taught K4/K5, Intensive Reading, Algebra, Social Studies 8-10th. My education training includes a Master's in E-Learning, another in Educational Leadership and I just started my PhD in E-Learning Leadership with Trident University International.
Sign Language Interpreter - My BA is in Sign Language and International Studies and I am certified to teach ASL in the schools. I am currently working on getting my National Certification for Interpreters. I recently took and passed the written portion (laws and ethics) of the test and will go to take the performance section this fall.
Photographer - I love to take pictures and to create photo DVDs and photo books. Check out my photography and video page for some of my work.
Mission Team Leader - I've been going to Haiti since 1998 and started taking teams in 2000. I've taken many trips down and have worked even more so since the earthquake on Jan. 12, 2010. I have lots of information about our work at www.themissionhaiti.com.
