Who Am I
I am a hot mess with a lot going on in my head as a: wife, mother, online sign language teacher, photographer / videographer, mission team leader, non-profit director, Independent Presenter for Younique makeup and WORLD CHANGER. In all I do I hope to make a difference in the world and in the lives of those I come in contact with. I haven't figured out that ONE thing in life I want to do so in the mean time I will just do a little of everything.
Wife/Mother - I have a great family! Check out my family page for pictures and info. I have so much to say about my life as a wife and my attempt to be a good mom. If you check out my blog you will see that I have a lot of "Do-Over" moments and I wish I could say I'm who I dreamed I'd be as a mom and wife but I'm not. I'm trying though and in the process of getting there I'm going to make the best of it! I share a lot of my struggles because I'm real and I want others to know my pictures may look great and my Fakebook may appear as if I have it together but I don't so don't be so hard on yourself. You can get there... and laugh on the journey! :)
Online ASL Teacher - I am so excited to be teaching the FIRST ONLINE American Sign Language course for Florida with Pasco eSchool and I'm working on a Homeschool ASL option for those who don't live in Florida and can't take the course with Pasco. I am Florida certified to teach K-6, Middle Grades 5-9, Business 6-12 and American Sign Language. While most of my teaching experience has been teaching ASL at the middle and high school level, I have also taught K4/K5, Intensive Reading, Algebra, Social Studies and worked as a Technology Integration Specialist. My education training includes a Master's in E-Learning, another in Educational Leadership and I started my PhD in E-Learning Leadership with Trident University International.
Photographer - I love to take pictures, to create photo slideshow and photo books and most recently have gotten into some videography. I have the WORST memory so pictures and videos are one of my addictions because without them I wouldn't remember what my kids did yesterday, much less 2 years ago of 5 or more. I love to help create special memories for others too so they have something to look back on when they can't remember anything either. :) Check out my photography and video page for some of my work.
Missions - I've been going on mission trips since to Haiti since 1995 (when I was 15), started leading mission teams in 2000 and set up a non-profit to do outreach and service in 2004. My international trips include Romania, Dominican Republic, Greece, Ethiopia and Haiti. I have a passion and a heart to reach the broken hearted and much of that work has been in Haiti where I also have become heavily involved in adoptions through my own experience and through helping hundreds of families as they navigate through their adoptions.
Below is the audio from my testimony I shared at Pine Level United Methodist on April 24, 2013. The video to the right shows some of the pictures of my work in Haiti over the past 14 years with pictures of Deverson, who I talk about in my testimony and of course has pictures of our kids Wanna and Fritzon, who we hope to fly home very soon.
**UPDATE - our kids came home July 31, 2014!
We have more information on our adoption on the tab above.
If you are interested in going to Haiti you can message me or find out more at T.H.E. Mission Haiti.
