I've been going to Haiti since 1998 and it has changed my life.  People always think they are going overseas to change the lives of others but in reality it's us who get changed.  I can't describe all the pain I've seen there but as sad as it is I've also never seen the same joy that they carry any where else either.  The children are simply amazing and have touched my heart like no other.  Here are some of my favorite pictures of Haiti.

The El Shaddai Orphanage was started by Marie Prinvil.  Marie is Haitian but lived and worked in Jacksonville, Fl. when she felt that she should go back to Haiti and start a home for orphans.  Her goal is to raise up strong Christians and leaders for Haiti so she does not adopt them out.  Instead, she schools her children and many more from the area and feeds all the children lunch.  For many, it might be the only meal they eat each day.  

Marie is not associated with any organization.  She has an account through the Christian Light Foundation but getting money in Haiti is difficult.  All the money designated for Marie is used to buy the supplies she specifically requests and the rest is given to her directly when we fly down.  All of us who have ever worked with Marie have seen her heart in action and know that she is an amazing woman who trusts God completely to provide for her and never holds on to what she has.  If she has excess it is shared with others in need.

Located in Bercy, Cabaret, the CBCH is home to over 50 orphans.  Only a handful are in the process of being adopted but we hope to find homes for many more of them.  We began working with CBCH in March 2010, shortly after the earthquake.  It was in pretty bad condition but in the past year and a half we have watched it transform into a good home for these kids.  We love the kids there so much and have a heart to help them become healthy mentally, socially, physically and spiritually. 

In addition to loving the kids we have a strong passion for investing in the community.  We are currently sponsoring over 60 kids to go to school.  Many have never been before and are so thankful for the opportunity.  We are working towards building a community center too that will offer a safe place for the kids, training and education for the adults, literacy programs, health and nutrition programs and much more.  We are looking forward to what the future holds.
